Ruth Reardon 1930 - 2022 - Memorial Service Video

Ruth Reardon - Memorial Service Video.

A memorial service was held for Ruth Reardon on Saturday 26 November in All Saints Church in the village of Turvey, where Ruth and her late husband, Canon Martin Reardon OBE lived, and where Ruth continued living until the end of 2021 when she moved to Leeds to live with her daughter.

Ruth’s funeral had taken place in Leeds, so it was fitting that her memorial service was held in the church where Martin’s funeral had been held in 2005, and where she and Martin had worshipped together. After the service, a reception was held in the Roman Catholic Benedictine Monastery of Christ Our Saviour at the other end of the village - where Ruth and Martin had also regularly attended Mass.

The memorial service was attended by over 50 people who came together to share and celebrate their memories of Ruth, and we heard a range of tributes with insights into many aspects of her long life. We are pleased – especially for those who were unable to get to Turvey – to be able to share a recording of the service here (note that the sound is a bit quiet – it will probably need to be played at maximum volume on your device):

    Who was Dr Ruth Reardon?

For anyone visiting our site who has not heard of Ruth Reardon, she was a Roman Catholic theologian and ecumenist, and with her Anglican husband, Martin and Fr John Coventry SJ, was co-founder of the Association of Interchurch Families. She died in May 2022.
